Have you noticed a space theme in my most recent merit badge help posts?
I am learning a ton in preparing for the summer camp badge classes. While in the back of my mind, I have known that many of the NASA projects help my life today, I would be hard pressed to tell you what some of those things were.
This is the question posed to the PiPa girls in requirement #16. In my research of spin-offs from the space program, I found a wonderful website. www.spinoff.nasa.gov
NASA has published information about commercial products that are related to the NASA program. Currently there are almost 2,000 such spinoffs.
Here is a list of a few:
- Rechargeable hearing aid batteries
- Digital Image Sensor
- GPS
- Enriched Baby Formula
- Memory foam
- Truck Aerodynamics
- Invisible braces
