Today I am featuring my Patriotic Zig-Zag blanket I knitted this fall as a Christmas present. I began with 3 extra-large skeins of yarn (812 yards of each color). The wavy stripes were the ideal project for my dad. As a veteran, he loves all patriotic things. The blanket measures approximately 46″ x 68″, so it is long enough to cover him.
I used the same basic pattern, as I used for the Zig-Zag Blanket I knitted previously for my daughter. This is a very versitile pattern that can easily be adapted to any color scheme.
PATRIOTIC WAVY BLANKET
Needles: Size 8, 29 inch circular needles (gauge is not important)
Cast on 196 stitches (or any multiple of 13 plus one)
Row 1: Sl1p, [K2tog, K3, Kfkb, Kfkb, K4, K2tog] repeat till end of row.
Row 2: Sl1p, knit to end of row
Repeat these two rows, until desired length. Bind off
To obtain the look of above I knitted the following pattern:
30 rows blue, white then red
26 rows blue, white then red
22 rows blue, white then red
18 rows blue, white then red
14 rows blue, white then red
Hope you enjoy,
Happy Knitting.
