Many years ago, I received a 23rd Psalms Bracelet for Mother’s Day from my children. I was looking for a project to go with the creative crafts merit badge and knew this would be a great project.
The Lord is my shepherd (white); there is nothing I lack.
He lets me lie down in green pastures (green);
He leads me beside quiet waters (blue). He renews my life;
He leads me along the right paths (clear) for His name’s sake.
Even when I go through the darkest valley (black),
I fear no danger, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff (wood)—they comfort me.You prepare a table (brown) before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil (yellow); my cup (purple) overflows.
Only goodness and faithful love (pink) will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord (gold) as long as I live.
Pictured above is one made for the older girls. We included metal crimp beads and a bracelet toggle. The addition of metal filler beads allowed us to create a bracelet that would fit them.
You could simplify the process to allow Tenderhearts to participate and use stretchy elastic cord and plastic pony beads. The possibilities are only limited by your budget.
This project can be used toward completing Creative Crafts merit badge requirements #1, 2, 6, 7, 12 and 14. If you are looking for other projects check here and here.
NOTE: The requirements have been simplified here. Please be sure to read the full text in the American Heritage Girl Handbook to make sure you fully understand the requirements.
