Getting “buggy” – Zoology #7

ZoologyWhat girl out there does not enjoy collecting bugs? My daughter is a little bit of a “tom boy” so Zoology merit badge requirement #7 was not a horrible chore.

Armed with my camera, she set out to find bugs.  This way “no insects were harmed in the completion of this badge”. The camera was an amazing tool. Young Meteorologist #3

Young MeteorologistAs a child we all dream about the job we will have as an adult.  The American Heritage Girl program encourages girls to learn about different careers.

Young Meteorologist at the Tenderheart level has the girls observe and record the weather that they experience.  Requirement #3 compares actual rain amounts to that of the average rain fall for your area. Continue reading “Young Meteorologist #3”

Best field trip EVER!

Recently the kids and I took a field trip to the zoo.  Now that the kids have gotten older we no longer make regular pilgrimages to the zoo. But this trip will be remembered for a very long time.

The weather was a bit nippy for January, but since the zoo was running a special $3 per person, we decided to take a break from school and join some friends at the zoo.  We saw the usual zoo animals – lions, tigers and bears, Oh my!  The zoo even had jaguars. I don’t recall ever seeing jaguars before this.
