As a child we all dream about the job we will have as an adult. The American Heritage Girl program encourages girls to learn about different careers.
Young Meteorologist at the Tenderheart level has the girls observe and record the weather that they experience. Requirement #3 compares actual rain amounts to that of the average rain fall for your area.
To begin with, the girl needs to make a simple rain gauge using a can and a ruler. Then record the amount of rain received over two weeks time. Spring is a perfect time for this activity when rain is frequent.
To assist you I have created a printable worksheet for the girls to be able to record the rain on.
