What girl out there does not enjoy collecting bugs? My daughter is a little bit of a “tom boy” so Zoology merit badge requirement #7 was not a horrible chore.
Armed with my camera, she set out to find bugs. This way “no insects were harmed in the completion of this badge”. The camera was an amazing tool. It allowed us to zoom in and observe details and if they scurried away before we could identify them all was not lost.
After downloading the pictures, I sent her to a great site to identify them (HERE). It allowed her to look up the insects based on primary and secondary color and limit the search to our state. For most of the insects it provides multiple pictures.
