Our theme for this year’s AHG Summer camp is centered around launching a new era for the camp. We will be launching many things during the week including rockets. The girls attending camp will have the opportunity to complete the Living and Working in Space Merit Badge.

Communication is an important part of everyone’s life. No wonder American Heritage Girls has devoted an entire badge to it.
How we communicate is ever changing. Gone are the days to slipping hand written notes into each other’s locker. The youth of today now use hi-tech devices. And these are becoming available to children of all ages. Why not take a minute to have fun sharing how we communicated with out friends back in the “dark ages” – The one before internet. I love growing fresh herbs in my kitchen window. Herbs are one of the few plants I have been able to grow successfully. They are available all year-long and even if I manage to kill the plants (which happens more often than I care to admit), I am able to save the dried leaves and use them. When we lived in Florida we had a pair of geese that nested in our yard every spring. “Our” pair of geese have returned to the same nesting spot for at least 3 years.
