One of my favorite parts of summer camp is SWAPS. My inner child, loves the idea. As a badge counselor I end up making a different SWAP for each day. When my OCD, type A personality meets my crafty side it is “go big or go home”. Leading up to camp I make several hundred SWAPS. (If I have totally lost you, go here before reading on).
It’s summer time, and that means it is time for camp. And if it’s time for camp, then it is definitely time for SWAPS!!!
Communication is an important part of everyone’s life. No wonder American Heritage Girls has devoted an entire badge to it.
How we communicate is ever changing. Gone are the days to slipping hand written notes into each other’s locker. The youth of today now use hi-tech devices. And these are becoming available to children of all ages. Why not take a minute to have fun sharing how we communicated with out friends back in the “dark ages” – The one before internet. The American Heritage Girls Nature & Wildlife merit badge, is a popular badge for girls. Regardless to their age. there is something about being outside and enjoy the Creator’s work that is calming.
