The American Heritage Girls Nature & Wildlife merit badge, is a popular badge for girls. Regardless to their age. there is something about being outside and enjoy the Creator’s work that is calming.
Requirement #4 of the badge has the girls make a pinecone bird feeder and observe it for 30 days.
Making a pinecone feeder is not hard, and is often done as a Tenderheart unit. Having been involved in 5 different troops, I often see leaders skipping the 30 days part which is a crucial part of the badge. To help you fulfill the requirement completely, I have created a free printable.
It is just a basic form, with large writing blocks to allow the girls to record what they see at their feeder. To download the free pdf file, click on the image below or click here.
If you are needing help making a pinecone bird feeder you can find instructions at the following web sites.
NOTE: The requirements have been simplified here. Please be sure to read the full text in the American Heritage Girl Handbook to make sure you fully understand the requirements.
