With spring upon us, now is a great time to camp. No campout would be complete without a fire. Requirement #14 of the Fire Safety and Fire Building merit badge, has the girls build waterproof fire starters. I decided to test a few methods and see how they worked.

When we lived in Florida we had a pair of geese that nested in our yard every spring. “Our” pair of geese have returned to the same nesting spot for at least 3 years.

Today I thought I would finish up the Outdoor Cooking Merit Badge Helps that I had planned. I recently discovered you can cook eggs in a paper bag. Well, let me re-state that – I recently attempted this. I had heard of it before but had never ventured to try it.
While camping, the meal options are endless, but dessert does not have to be limited to s’mores. Next time you go camping try Orange Peel Cupcakes. We made these while working on the Outdoor Cooking Merit Badge (#21).
