Easy Eyeglass case

Lately I have been busy getting ready to teach the Needle Arts badge to a group of PiPas.  I’m excited to share my love of knitting with them.

I am designing a set of simple projects for them to complete.  Keep in mind that most of them do know know the difference between knitting and crochet (Did I just hear you scream through my computer?)

For “newbies” I have created a basic eyeglass case pattern. It only requires three skills – cast on, knit and cast off.

AHG Badge Help – Living in the USA #28

Are you familiar with the Morrill Act of 1862?  Whether or not you have ever heard of it or not, I am certain it affects your life in some way, either directly or indirectly.

Congressman Justin Morrill, from Vermont, sponsored what we know refer to as the Morrill Act or what some refer to as the Morrill Land Grant College Act.  The Act was signed into law by President Lincoln on July 2, 1862.  This piece of legislation provided each state with 30,000 acres of Federal land for each member of their Congressional delegation.  The states that accepted this land, were to sell the land and use the funds for public colleges that focused on agriculture and mechanical arts.  Sixty-nine colleges were formed because of the Morrill Act of 1862.
