Basic Eye Glass Case

Did you see yesterday’s post for an Easy Eye Glass Case? Today I’m sharing a different version of the same project.

Supplies
#6 knitting needles
approximately  25 yarns of worsted weight yarn
yarn needle
button
a pair of double point needles – optional

Using the long tail cast on method, cast on 16 stitches.

Row 1: knit all stitches
Row 2: Purl all stitsches

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the rectangle measures 13 inches in length.  Bind off, leaving a long tail.

Fold the rectangle in half and using the tail of your bind off and cast on, sew the side together and weave in all of the ends.

Sew a small button on the back of the eye case.

Using a pair of double point needles create a three stitch i-cord piece that measures approximately 2 inches.  Sew the i-cord to the center of the front to create a loop. If you prefer you can create an easy, single strand loop like in the first project.

New knitters can use this project to complete Needle Arts Merit Badge requirement #3, #9, or #17.

NOTE: The requirements have been simplified here. Please be sure to read the full text in the Girl Handbook to make sure you fully understand the requirements.
