Cake Decorating Class for AHG – Sour Cream Cake

Previously I shared with you that I am helping a group of Tenderhearts and Explorers earn their Cake Decorating Merit Badge.

We began by going over color theory. As I explained to the girls, cake decorating is like any other type of art, it needs to be visually appealing.

Next, we made cupcakes (Requirement #1). When I make cake, I used a doctored cake mix to create a Sour Cream Cake. For, we also want it to taste great. This is my favorite white cake. It is extra moist.

Pasta Limone

Today is National Fresh Spinach Day. Spinach is my daughter’s favorite vegetable. Around my house we eat it in salads, quiche, twice baked potatoes and in pasta limone.

Pasta Limone If you are unfamiliar with this dish, it is a super quick creamy pasta dish with fresh lemon taste. Any meal I can make in less than 30 minutes is a win for me.

Kale chips, not just for health nuts.

Do you like Kale chips? Have you even tried them?

Recently I have been trying to eat a little healthier. Don’t worry, I am not turning into some crazy health nut. I recently discovered kale. Until about six or seven month ago, I had never eaten kale. Now, my kids can not get enough of it.  Our favorite, and the only way I’ve really tried it, it baked into kale chips.

When baked in the oven for about 20 minutes they lose their bitterness and create a wonderfully salty snack with a unique texture. And they contain tons of nutrients.
