This summer has renewed my love for teaching. Between summer camp, badge bashes and day camp, I have had plenty of opportunities. In preparing to teach the classes, I am learning a ton! Hopefully some of the resources I found will help you.
Our Constitution is one of the newer AHG badges. In my opinion, it is a pretty tough badge to earn especially at the Pioneer / Patriot level. But it is very important that we learn the history of our country.
The first requirement is to read the actual constitution, and share what you learned. This requirement must be completed at every level (Tenderheart, Explorer and Pi/Pa).
If you are looking for the full text of the document, check out www.ConstitutionUS.com/. It also includes a vocabulary section to make understanding the “big words” easier.
While reading the Constitution is something most of the older girls can do. It is challenging for the younger Tenderhearts. Also our troop has several older girls who are dyslexic, struggling readers. To help them complete the requirement, I found a great YouTube video that reads it for me. Check out this video.
NOTE: The requirements have been simplified here. Please be sure to read the full text in the American Heritage Girl Handbook to make sure you fully understand the requirements.
