I love Apple Crumble. For years it was my go to dessert any time we had company. It is easy to make, and the house smells heavenly while it bakes.
This recipe uses fresh apples. It works well with any “eating” apple. My favorite is Fuji, but it works well with just about any type. Just use whatever type of apple is your favorite.
Pre-heat oven to 350. Peel and slice apples (enough to fill and 8×8 casserole dish). Add 2 Tablespoons flour, 1 Tablespoon sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well and spread evenly in the bottom of the dish.
In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 cup flour. Using a pastry cutter, cut butter into the mixture. Sprinkle on top of the apples and bake for 30-40 minutes until the top is brown.
If you double the recipe, use a 9×13 dish.
