Cabana Grill Review & Giveaway

I am busting at the seams to tell you about my first ever giveaway, but you will have to wait just a minute more!

The other day I received an email from Cabana Grill about hosting a giveaway for them. I had eaten at a Taco Cabana when we lived in the Dallas Area, but I had never heard of Cabana Grill, much less that there was one here in Jacksonville. Apparently, Cabana Grill is a new sister chain to Taco Cabana and Jacksonville was chosen as only the second location in the country.

First, they hosted me and my family to a night out, but the opinions here are my own.  The food was amazing! Before we were done eating we were talking about the next time we would visit.

I ordered the Chicken Fajita Bowl. I had grand intentions of taking a photo to share with all of you, but it arrived so quickly and looked so good, I forgot until I was half-way through eating it.  The Fajita bowl is a crispy tortilla bowl filled with your choice of meat, beans, lettuce, and rice along with cheese, pico de gallo, and sour cream.  I was glad to see they offered Romaine lettuce, in addition to your standard shredded lettuce.

My hubby ordered the Steak Fajita Burrito. Gary chose the Taco Plate and Lily went with the Kids Taco Meal. We each tried to order something different so we could get a better feel for all of the food.  We devoured every bite.  Let’s just say we had four “happy plates” at the end of the meal.  But, we probably should have stopped sooner because we were stuffed.

I was impressed with the kids meal. For $3.99 Lily got a Chicken Taco topped with lettuce and tomatoes (cheese and sour cream are extra), a side of her choice and a 16 oz. soda. We often find that kids meals are not enough food for an 11 year old. This one did a good job satisfying her.  They also have quesadillas on the kids menu,  and kids eat free every Tuesday.

And I almost forgot, we did order Sopapillas for dessert, or should I say appetizer. As my grandmother says, “Eat your dessert first, you may not live through the meal.” So, we inhaled the order of Sopapillas first thing.

Now, while the food was great and the restaurant staff was friendly, it would not be an honest review if I didn’t find something that could be improved.  Before we went out to eat, I checked their website to preview the menu so we could make our selections ahead of time.  The website is lacking.  The only information found on the website is a place for you to join their e-mail list and receive a free taco. There was a link to their Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages. However, a quick Google search did provide me with the information I was looking for. I hope to see improvements in this area as the chain grows.

All in all, we were very pleased and we will be back.

Now for what you all have been waiting for.  I am offering each of you the chance to win one of two $25 gift certificates to their Jacksonville, Florida location, compliments of Cabana Grill. All you have to do is follow my blog, and comment below that you would like to win!  I will choose two winners at random, using a random number generator. Deadline to enter is midnight, Friday, March 27 EST.

Two winners will be announced on Saturday, March 28, 2015.
