Feeling Blessed

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, there is a lot of talk about leprechauns, pots of gold, and luck.  However, I know that I am not lucky, I’m blessed.

My blessings are too numerous to count.  Included in that list is being able to spend my days (when I’m not homeschooling) crafting.  Recently, I have developed an interest in creating simple canvas signs.  Nothing elaborate, but still enjoyable.

Green Stuff

Have you ever seen a recipe, and thought “NO WAY”. Well, today I would like to share one of those type recipes. Growing up, my mom made a green gelatin salad every year for Christmas. Thankfully as a kid I did not realize what was in it, or I may not have eaten it. Cottage cheese and lime jello, are not a combination I would have tried.

We called it “green stuff”. When my mom gave me the recipe before I got married the recipe card said “green stuff”. I guess it is because my sister and I could not pronounce the word congealed or gelatin, who knows. But to help you I will call Green Gelatin Salad.

I’m not sure why we only had it at Christmas, I think it goes great for St. Patrick’s Day. I have found that green deserts are a little hard to find.

March Dishcloth

With St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th, I could not pass up on this cute dishcloth for the month of March. While I am not fond of green beer or believe in “luck”, I love the symbolism of the shamrock. Legend says that St. Patrick used the shamrock to help explain the Trinity to the people of Ireland.

March Dishcloth

To make this dishcloth I began with Rhonda White’s free pattern posted on Knttingknonsence.com (here) and a skein of Hot Green yarn by Sugar ‘n Cream.  For once I did not change the pattern, but knitted it up as written, other than changing the needle size to 6 (as I do with all of my dishcloths). As always, Rhonda White has done an excellent job. I love the seed stitch edging that the pattern uses.
