Sleep is an important part of each of our lives, or it should be.  Sleep deprivation in children can cause poor academic performance, irritability, lack of coordination, and it can slow their growth.  In adults, chronic sleep deprivation can contribute to obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. And while we may like to sleep in on Saturday, there is no way to make up for sleep we have lost.

How We Roll

FAITH, SERVICE and FUN – this is more than just the tag line on the American Heritage Girls logo, it is what we do.  We aid girls in developing their faith and serving others, all while having fun.

At summer camp, I wanted my SWAPS to represent each badge class I taught. So when I found these miniature dice, I knew I had the makings for a Toys and Games Merit Badge SWAP.

AHG Badge Help – Bible Basics #3

Bible Basics Merit Badge Helps | Life of Momma BAs we grow in our relationship with Christ, we should become more Christ-like.  Galations 5:22-23 gives us the fruit of the spirit that should be evident in our lives – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfullness, gentleness and self-control.

Personally, I still struggle with some of these. It is important for us and for our girls to understand what the fruit of the spirit is. For, as we allow the Holy Spirit to live in us, these will become more evident.

Summer Vacation in Washington D.C.

DCAre you one of the 20+ million people who plan to visit DC this year? You can find my family there again this year.  I am blessed to have family in the area and have been able to visit several times.  There is so much to do in DC that no matter how many times we go, there is always something new.  Among our top things we have done included the Washington Monument at night, watching Fourth of July fireworks from Iwo Jima,  the American History Museum “Star Spangled Banner” display, and the changing of the guards at Arlington National Cemetery
