Blueberry Pie

Today is National Blueberry Pie Day. So in honor of this bizarre holiday I present you my daughter’s blueberry pie.

blueberry pie craft | Life of Momma BMy daughter loves her American Girl doll. In addition to the dolls she has an assortment of clothes, and accessories.  We have found that named brand items are ridiculously expensive. While we do own some American Girl brand accessories, some of her items are knock-offs, and others are homemade. Continue reading “Blueberry Pie”

Peppy the Penguin

Introducing Peppy the Penguin!

PenguinI knitted this guy up just before Christmas using #6 needles and some yarn in my stash.  He came out taller than I expected at almost 7 inches, but was worth the effort. My favorite feature is the little feet that allow him to stand on his own.

If you would like to knit up a cute penguin, the pattern can be found here.

Easter Cake

Easter Cake | Life of Momma BI have a few distinct memories from Easter growing up – one is that my mother always made the same coconut cake.  While I am not a huge fan of coconut, I insist on making this cake for my family every year.

The cake begins with a basic white cake mix straight from the box, the way my momma always did.  She was never into making cakes from scratch. It is topped with my favorite – a Fluffy Marshmallow Frosting, and decorated with green coconut and jelly beans.

Caramel Macchiato on a Budget

My hubby’s favorite drink at Starbucks is a Caramel Macchiato. According to the Starbucks website, it includes a “creamy vanilla-flavored syrup, freshly steamed milk with a topping of velvety-rich foam, an intense hit of our Espresso Roast, a finishing of buttery caramel drizzle”.

My husband has found an alternative to this pricy drink, that provides him with the same caramel taste but for a fraction of the cost. Caramel Macchiato on a Budget / from Life of Momma B

Begin by brewing a pot of coffee. Before you pour your coffee add one Cadbury Caramel egg to the bottom of a large cup. Top off the cup with coffee and stir until the egg is dissolved.

In full disclosure – I have not tried this recipe. I personally cannot stand coffee, but my hubby loves it and this will be the third year that he has enjoyed this.

Feeling Blessed

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, there is a lot of talk about leprechauns, pots of gold, and luck.  However, I know that I am not lucky, I’m blessed.

My blessings are too numerous to count.  Included in that list is being able to spend my days (when I’m not homeschooling) crafting.  Recently, I have developed an interest in creating simple canvas signs.  Nothing elaborate, but still enjoyable.
