Block number 2 of my Texas Christmas Quilt is now complete.

In an attempt to make progress on my Texas Christmas Quilt, I am completing the easiest blocks first.  Today’s block is a variation on a Nine Patch.  When I first saw the completed block on the Shop Hop group page, I fell in love with the fabric.  However, when I finally made it to Garland to pick up the free pattern from Rocking Bobbin Quilt Shop, I was disappointed to learn that they had sold out of the fabric.  So, I took to Etsy and found the entire collection of Howdy Christmas fabric by Northcott at Andi’s Quilt Co. The pattern came from Rocking Bobbin Quilt Shop in Garland. They are located just off I-30 in Garland.  Here is a link to the Rocking Bobbin.

I have completed the first block for my Texas Christmas Quilt.

As I shared previously (here), this summer my sister and I completed the Texas Christmas Shop Hop. This week I was able to finish cutting all of the fabric. I cut almost 1000 pieces of fabric, sizes ranged from 1-inch squares to 8.5-inch squares and everything in between – squares, rectangles and triangles. 

Here is a breakdown of the fabric I will be using for the front of the quilt; I have not decided what I am going to do for the back yet.

• Horseshoes – 1/4 yard
• Cowboy Hats – 1/4 yard (only because I needed to fussy cut the pieces)
• Cowboy Boots on Green – 1/4 yard (only because I needed to fussy cut the pieces)
• Green Stars – 1/4 yard
• Christmas Plaid – 1/8 yard
• Red Paisley – 1/8 yard
• Red Textured – 1 yard
• Green Textured – 1 yard
• Red and White Dots – 1/3 yard left from another project
• Black Solid – 1/3 yard
• Yellow Solid – Fat Quarter
• Brown – from my scrap bin
• Poinsettia – from my scrap bin

I decided to start with the easiest block first.  This block came from the Blue Ribbon Quilt Shoppe in Wylie, Texas.  The Blue Ribbon Quilt Shoppe is a little different than your typical quilt store. It is inside of a renovated house and is stuffed full of fabric.  We were taken aback to find fabric outside on the covered front porch on the rainy day we visited.  However, I loved seeing a group of older ladies sitting around a table doing hand applique work.  Here is a link to their website if you want to check them out.  BlueRibbonQuiltShoppe.com
