Sweet Birthday Surprise

Recently my brother-in-law hit had a birthday. The BIG ONE!  He joined the ranks of us over the hill folks. He’s now old!! Yes, that’s right he turned 40. (Hey, I can say that I too am 40).

We celebrated with a quiet evening at home. For his birthday, I made him a candy bar bouquet. It had 40 candy bars.

This project began with a metal pot I picked up at the Dollar Tree. I added a layer of glass marbles, I already owned, to give it some weight. Next, I cut a piece of styrofoam to fit inside the pot.  Using my hot glue gun I attached Snickers bar to the outside of the pot. I then attached bamboo skewers to the remaining candy bars. All that was left was to insert the skewers into the pot with a little tissue paper.

This was really easy to make and my brother-in-law seemed to enjoy it. It should last him a little while.

Day 11 of Rebecca-fest

Today was not only the 11th day of Rebecca-fest it was also our 16th Wedding Anniversary. Today I got double gifts. My kids gave me my daily birthday present – two pieces of Willow Tree for my collection. The boy looks like my son, while the girl looks like my daughter. Later this evening my hubby gave me the larger piece. It looks like our family. I cannot wait to move so I have a place to display them.

Day 10 of Rebecca-fest

Today’s gift was a little more exciting for me. I received a “Lens Cap Keeper”. Last year I received a DSLR for Christmas. I love my camera. I have not had the time I want to learn how to use it properly, and treat it more like a point and shoot than anything, but there are dreams of one day improving my photography skills. Until then…

Long story short I am forever laying my lens cap down and loosing it. My problem has been solved. Lens Cap Keeper to the rescue. As soon as I took this picture I opened the package and put it on.
