Best field trip EVER!

Recently the kids and I took a field trip to the zoo.  Now that the kids have gotten older we no longer make regular pilgrimages to the zoo. But this trip will be remembered for a very long time.

The weather was a bit nippy for January, but since the zoo was running a special $3 per person, we decided to take a break from school and join some friends at the zoo.  We saw the usual zoo animals – lions, tigers and bears, Oh my!  The zoo even had jaguars. I don’t recall ever seeing jaguars before this.

BUT what makes this trip memorable was the elephants.  IMG_9299 Continue reading “Best field trip EVER!”

Three little puppies

Have you heard about Craft Hope’s newest project?  They are collecting finger puppets for orphans in India.

I love the idea of helping others even if it is in a small way.  With several large projects that I need to complete, I am hoping to find some time to make some finger puppets.  So far I have completed three.

I’m being over run by hamsters

hamsterAfter knitting 9 of these little guys, I feel like my house is being overrun with hamsters.  Using small amounts of scrap yarn (12 yards for each body and 1.5 yards for the ears, feet and tail) they knitted up quick and easy.

The eyes were made by adding small black glass beads. The ears were knitted using a long tail cast on method. The tails from the ears were pulled through the body and tied to form the feet and tail.  I must say the feet and tail made them adorable.

The pattern was created by Emily Stoneking and can be found on Ravelry here.

Happy Knitting.
