Summer 2019

Summer is almost over. It has been a crazy couple of months at my house.

First, my son graduated and enlisted in the Army. We are preparing for his last days at home as he prepares to head to basic training.  So I will soon be able to add the title Army Mom to my list of pseudo-names.  This title I will wear with great pride.  I am proud of my son and all he has accomplished.   I am proud that he wants to spend his life defending our freedoms.  While the mom in me is hesitant I am reminded of the words a missionary friend serving in the Middle East once said…

Better to be in what the world considers the most dangerous place in God’s will; than in what the world views as the safest place outside of His will

Next, my daughter and I headed to summer camp.  17 nights away from home was exhausting but we had a ball. I have lots of SWAPS to share and badge helps from the classes I taught that need to be written up.

I have had a little time to knit, but did not accomplish as much as I had hoped. But I did have the opportunity to take a Glass Craft Class.  I am completely in love with my new toys tools and can’t wait to be able to see what else I can create.  I will be sharing more about that soon.

But the sun still shines and tomorrow is a new day.

Get ready, cause here I come!

Well, January is more than half way through and the crazy holiday season is long over, yet my projects and commitments continue to grow.

But hang on to your hat, I am determined to make my blog a higher priority this year.  I usually do not post my goals for the year, but I am taking a step of faith, and being transparent. Continue reading “Get ready, cause here I come!”

When life does not go as you planned…

The past few months have been a time in my life, where nothing went as planned.  Over the summer I had high hopes of completing a list of projects.  We had trips planned and knitting projects ready.  But the Lord had other plans for me.

With the changes in my personal life it was necessary for me to take a step back and not blog for a while.  All the while, I have missed my little blog.  Thankfully life is starting to calm down and return to a “normal” pace.  I hope to be back on here shortly with lots of ideas and projects to share with you.

Olympic Inspired Knitting Projects

Yes, I know the Olympics are over, but I have been developing this post for a while and am finally ready to share it with you.

While the world was watching the opening ceremony and discussing the joining of the North Korea and South Korea teams, the half-dressed flag bearer from Tonga, or the drone light display, I was drooling over the different hats worn by various countries in the parade of nations.

This has inspired me to develop a series of hats inspired by those worn at the 2018 Olympic Opening Ceremony.  This week, I will be highlighting three countries – Japan, Latvia and Slovakia.

Don’t worry there will be more countries added later this year, but my needles are currently full of baby hats for a local charity.

Happy Knitting!
