While it is spring, and the weather is turning warmer, it is never too early to start planning for winter. While that sounds nice, the reality is I am working through a pile of projects that are in some stage of completion. But hey, one day it will be cooler and I will actually get to where the hat.
I began with a free pattern for a Gnarly Hat I found on Ravelry (here) by Diana Troldahl. I quickly discovered that the reviews were correct and the pattern is much larger than indicated. It took me a few tries to realize that an Adult Small was needed to fit this head.
I opted to use some Lion Homespun yarn that was gifted to me. The combination of textured yarn and the textured stitch pattern created a truly “gnarly” look. But somewhere in the bizarre texture there is beauty.
Happy Knitting!
