Completing the Needle Art Merit Badge, requires you to make both big and small projects from your selected art form. If you enjoyed making Plastic Kissies (here), and you are ready to tackle a larger project. Check out the Tic Tac Toe Set made from plastic canvas. All of the pieces nest inside for storage when not in use.
To create this Tic Tac Toe Game set, begin by cutting your pieces, with the following number of holes/squares.
Top / Bottom: 30×30 squares (cut 2)
Side: 8×30 squares (cut 4)
Games pieces: 8×8 (cut 10)
I am not going to give detailed instructions as I assume you can figure that out on your own. I will say that the yellow squares on the top of the box are 9×9. Also, I did not stitch the bottom of the box. The main areas were completed using the basic continental stitch, but the possibilities and color patterns are only limited by your imagination. The X’s and O’s were embroidered after the pieces were completed but a simple back stitch would also work well.
NOTE: The requirements have been simplified here. Please be sure to read the full text in the American Heritage Girl Handbook to make sure you fully understand the requirements.
