The Pioneer and Patriot unit had an ornament exchange at their Unit Christmas Party. Each girl was asked to make an ornament. I found this cute guy and had to make one.
Using less than 40 yards of worsted weight yarn and size 5 needles, I knitted this up in one evening. It is hard to tell from the picture but he is actually triangular, which added to his cuteness. He is knitted in 4 pieces (body, beard, hat trim and pom-pom) and then assembled and stuffed.
I opted to use a pair of 6/0 glass beads instead of embroidering the eyes (I hate to embroider.) My only complaint with the pattern is the instructions for the beard is off. It did not create a beard that looked like the original. But nonetheless, it worked so I should not complain too much.
