Feeling Blessed

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, there is a lot of talk about leprechauns, pots of gold, and luck.  However, I know that I am not lucky, I’m blessed.

My blessings are too numerous to count.  Included in that list is being able to spend my days (when I’m not homeschooling) crafting.  Recently, I have developed an interest in creating simple canvas signs.  Nothing elaborate, but still enjoyable.

Slow-cooker Country Ribs

I love spring. The weather is turning warmer and we can pull out the grill to cook. However, spring is also full of surprises and crazy weather patterns. While nothing beats the taste of BBQ ribs from the grill. One has to be prepared to cook them inside when mother nature does not cooperate.

Pork country-style ribs can be cooked in the slow cooker with great results. While this is not one of those recipes where you throw everything in the pot and let it go, the extra steps give you a better rib. They are full of flavor and with a perfect texture, tender with a little bit of crispness on the outside.

A Camping we will go

Camping Merit Badge Help | Life of Momma BAre you one of the AHG leaders that loves camping? Does it make your heart race to think about sitting by the campfire roasting marshmallows under the starry night sky? Or do you cringe at the thought of having dirt everywhere and trying to get the smell of smoke out of your hair and clothes?  Either way outdoor skills and camping are an important part of the AHG experience.

In order for a Pioneer or Patriot to earn the Camping merit badge, which is required to complete their Stars and Stripes, they must camp for 12 nights.  These begin accumulating when they cross over from Explorers.  Often times the girls are working on this requirement without actually thinking about it.  But it is important that records be kept so they receive credit.

I have given each girl in my unit the following handout.
